This year's ride is scheduled for Sunday, July 23, 2017. The day begins with opening ceremonies at The Illinois Military State Museum on the grounds of Camp Lincoln at 11:30. As the ride departs, it will navigate through the eastern part of Springfield down Dirksen Parkway and then head east out Rt 29 to Public House 29 in Rochester. After a brief break, riders will continue east to The American Legion in Taylorville where US Army Pfc. Maggie Bilyeu will be honored for her heroic service to our country. It should arrive around 1:15 pm.
Maggie was a graduate of Taylorville High School and was critically injured in a suicide attack in December in Afghanistan. Following a brief ceremony, lunch will be served and the ride then heads across Rt. 104 to Divernon where it will make another 30 minute stop on the square at Maddy's.
At 3:45, riders will enjoy the most scenic portion of the afternoon as they return to Springfield along the I55 frontage road and then wind along East Lake Shore Drive to Island Bay and the final stop at The Crow's Mill Pub.
At the Crow's Mill, Sangamon County Deputy Stephen Wieland will be recognized for his outstanding service to our community through some very tumultuous circumstances this past year. Then attendees will have the chance to participate in a live and silent auction before unwinding to the sounds of The Take 10 Band who is scheduled to perform at 5:00 pm.
We are also pleased to announce this year's Honorary Grand Marshal will be:
Former Illinois Mr. Basketball and University of Illinois point guard: Dee Brown!
